The Starfish Project
“Artists are critical—both to and of our culture—and I believe that they should be celebrated, amplified, and supported. If we are to make efforts to create a better life, to live Life 2.0, we cannot ignore the importance of art and those who create it, and we cannot value the art without also valuing the artist.”
Art is absolutely necessary, especially in today’s world. We need those who help us see the world differently, those who speak with the voice of reason and compassion. We need art to show us possibility, to transport us for as long as we stare at a painting or sculpture, read a book, or listen to a song, and for as long as we can hold memory of how it affected us.
Art is absolutely necessary, and in order to support art, we must support the artist.
I believe giving back—direct support—is a necessity in order to create the world we wish to see.
Whether it’s by volunteering, by energy, by buying products, or by direct financial backing, our assistance allows that which we love to grow, no matter what we love.
As part of Life 2.0, I will be using my small corner of the internet to celebrate and amplify art and those artists who make the world a better place. I also pledge 20% of all income earned by writing and this website to artists—either directly or by purchasing their art—to aid artists in their work.
It’s not a gimmick or an act of charity, but rather a concentrated effort to expand and extend the presence of art—and those who make it—in the world.
One artist at a time, one piece of art at a time.
I’ll be showcasing artists that I’ve discovered and where you can find their art.
